How it all started? The story of 2015.
In conferences, the only thing one ends up with is a bunch of visiting cards and no real-meaning conversations. Startup Jalsa began with a mission to provide aspiring founders a solid support system to start their journeys.
Founded by the The Ideaz Factory, we started small in Chandigarh in 2015 introducing the novelty of Khopchas in the ecosystem, an innovative concept for one-on-one personal interaction leading a change in the way conferences are held. Hosting over 700+ founders and 30+ speakers in 2015, it was the first time ever that a conference of this scale was organized in a Tier 2 city.
Legendary founders became a part of this initiative. Ronnie Screwval of UTV, a pioneer in the Indian television industry, delivered the keynote address. Ronnie, co-founder of UpGrad, talked about brand awareness. “Being known to a billion people doesn’t mean you created a brand. A brand arrives when people wanna come back to you for more,” he left the audience thinking on that note.
When talking of legends, the man behind Tejas – India’s First Indigenous Aircraft cannot be missed. Yogesh Kumar, Senior Consultant at National Aerospace, was particularly interested in startup companies creating jobs for the future that made him see potential in Startup Jalsa being a launch pad for them.
TVF Pitchers in its infancy stage was launched at Jalsa 2015 with Arunabh Kumar, Founder of The Viral Fever declaring Jalsa ‘a Vitamin tablet in the world full of carrots’. “People can come and take a shot like an injection and they understand the ecosystem better in less time,” is what he had to say.
Pankaj Jain of 500 Startups flew all the way from NYC to Jalsa for the love of entrepreneurship. He said as a founder of a company, one should know about potential investors and the companies they have invested in. As a thumb rule, first talk to those startups and then come back to the investors.
