Story of City meetups
On a journey to hunt for India’s top startup in 2017, we went to cities pan India in November to select and mentor the best ideas for the finale pitching in Chandigarh. Eight cities were part of our roadshow.
Hardware was the hero in Chennai
Starting in Chennai on November 9 at the E-cell at Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, Research Park, 30+ startups registered to pitch their ideas in front of the jury. In collaboration with Startup Jalsa 2017, E-cell IIT-M co-presented E-cell Masterclass workshop with support from E-cells of IIT Delhi, Kanpur, Roorkee and BITS Pilani. The teams were given a task which was screened by mentors and awarded up to Rs 50 thousand.
Edtech stole the show in Pune
Moving to Pune on November 11, we organized the edition at Edugild, a global edtech startup accelerator, in Kothrud. Participant startups with creative solutions to improve the learning experience in any field registered with us. They pitched their ideas and got feedback from the jury. A conducive environment to technology-based startups resulted in producing innovative educational products and services.
Fintech was a star in Mumbai
The next destination was Mumbai on November 13, at Zone Startups, an international startup accelerator located at the iconic Bombay Stock Exchange tower. Over 30+ startups pitched there which coincided with our idea of driving market validation and customer acquisition to solve problems of the people and lead to an upward scale for their businesses.
Agri-space wired strong in Ahmedabad
Showcasing a will for entrepreneurship, Ahmedabad edition on November 15 got 40+ entries of participation at Centre for Innovation Incubation and Entrepreneurship, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. We were amazed to see a large turnout at a city in Gujarat and further thrilled to hear interesting ideas to grow the agri-based sector.
Rural was the way in Jaipur
Reaching Jaipur on November 17 at Startup Oasis, an incubation centre developing an ecosystem in Rajasthan to inspire and support students. 25+ aspiring entrepreneurs talked about scaling and marketing their business while demonstrating their innovative products. Instamix, a ready to eat food startup idea by Vipin Modi and Abhishek Modi, caught the fancy of thejury, and were invited as panelists in the main event.
Artificial Intelligence is upcoming in Hyderabad
November 21 began in Hyderabad with over 20 startup enthusiasts reaching T-Hub, IIIT-Hyderabad campus for the city meetup. The city is a growing platform for startups along with corporate, research and government sectors. Having a blend as such, the dedication to entrepreneurship is strong which will become a road to the future of enterprises.
Tech breathes life in Bengaluru
Bengaluru saw great ideas from the tech space. 10000 Startups Warehouse, an initiative by NASSCOM, organized the Jalsa meetup on November 23. It worked in sync with our vision to give opportunity to entrepreneurs to learn, work, and accelerate their companies. A total of 30 startups registered here from which 10 startups were selected to fly to Chandigarh for the finale.
CleanTech is the other side to Delhi
In Delhi, we found a network of new age entrepreneurs. At E-cell, Delhi Technological University on November 29, we got to know about 40 startups, among which 10 showed the potential to lead a change. The ideas that caught our attention were more related to a process, product, or service that reduce negative environmental impacts. A few made the cut to showcase their ideas in the finale in Chandigarh.
